at the end of the day its a drivers responsibility to ensure the safety of pedestrians and cyclists, if the girl on the bike was only going 1mph then she should have been very easy to avoid hitting.
the reason why riders will ride three wide, or ride into the street is because they by law are a vehicle they have the right to do so, and drivers have the responsibility to drive around them. its called the law. they do this so people can better see them and make a point of going around. at the end of the day the wind from a fast passing car is enough to send one rider into the wheel of another and cause a pretty serious accident.
its easy to hate cyclists when your not one of them, but its even easier to hate stupid drivers who dont add 1+1 and realize their driving puts the health and safety of riders into jeopardy.
your all pissed off because your worried the paint on your car wont match, what if you hit a competitive cyclist they broke a bone. you lost money, their body is compromised. cyclists ride the way we do because in America we get our license out of cracker jack box's and people have no comprehension of their responsibilities as drivers.
drivers are worried about their car, riders are worried about their bodies, most of the things drivers to to negotiate cyclists is illegal, and no court of law is going to side on the side of the two ton bull dowser when it comes in contact with a cyclist.
